Carol Leotta Moore

We are surrounded by mysteries.
Beautiful and terrifying. Benevolent and unforgiving.
Mysteries beget stories.
Stories attempt to explain the inexplicable -
or - at the very least,
present a vision, record a moment, provoke a feeling -
to say, look at this, how do you feel, have at it.

I make images and objects whose origins may derive from sentient or subconscious seeds. It doesn’t matter. What matters are the visions that arise creating an urgency that compels me to enter their orbit and deal with them, to give them form and shape. I follow and am grateful.

Carol Moore, from Journal, 2018

Nothing is achieved in art by will alone, everything is achieved by docile submission to the advent of the sub-conscious.

Odilon Redon, from Letters, 1898
